d.) Journalism and working in media Journalism as an occupation or a hobby. A journalist should know how to communicate, be familiar with journalist genres, their basic tool is language. A good journalist must have a good knowledge – the solution to this lies in the connection between theory and practice. The public develops a vision of a good and a bad journalist, so do not be one of the bad. At the workshop people prepare, analyse, evaluate and categorize media contents (newspapers, radio,TV) and they also get familiar with the work of media houses. Due to the fact that journalists aren’t used to working in groups the work is rarely done well. If topics were addressed in this manner more often, it would be a great opportunity for every editorial office to increase the number of the audience. Additionally, a good journalist should be acquainted with consequences which can arise from their work. Lately the protection of journalists has become a hot topic, so this is a unique opportunity to acquire some legal opinions from jurists. This is a great chance to gain journalist skills for everyone who shall ever use them in their work. It is also certain that those skills will not go amiss in every day communication. Contents: -language and speaking -theory and practical preparation for journalist work -journalism: journalism and the profile of a journalist -photography in journalism-photography role in written media -work in various media: the specifics of working with written and electronic media -conclusion: the conclusive debate and receiving of participation conformations

The participants were divided in 2 groups (photography, drugs). Throughout the workshop they exchanged their views and opinions which derived from different social backgrounds. The project was successfully concluded on 10.7.2004 with a program evaluation and of goals which were based on a belief that the young can contribute to the relevant drug problems with an innovative-provocative program.

The program was in process every work day from 7.30AM to 15.30PM. Useful publications and information on domestic violence were given out.. Publications and addresses of appropriate institutions were collected by professional co-workers, who deal with this problem on a regular basis. This way we can be certain that we give out valid information in order to help the victims. Information available at the Info centre Osmica: -whom to trust in case of domestic violence -it is not the victim’s fault -it is no shame in this -it is important to talk about it -important telephone numbers, where adequate help is available -addresses of institutions which deal with domestic violence The informing was in process from 1.1. until 30.4.2004, the main goal was to achieve an adequate level of information. We believe this is the only way for a victim to start finding a way out of the situation. Target population was children and young adults, who are most vulnerable, least protected and therefore the most hurt. Giving the fact that their personality is still developing it is possible that those children become problematic, don’t achieve their goals, have a low self-esteem or even become violent themselves. All the above are the reasons for carrying out this program. b.)”Preventive actions cycle through debating”
1. THE DANGERS OF CIGARETTE SMOKE? Quitting smoking certainly isn’t easy, due to the high addiction level of nicotine. In many cases people give up smoking only for a month or two. d.)TOBACCO AND ITS NEGATIVE EFFECTS The concept of this program was an aggressive approach to cigarettes, since the majority of smokers isn’t aware of the slowly- killing -effects of smoking. Smoking also affects the passive smokers. Quitting smoking certainly isn’t easy, due to the high addiction level of nicotine. In many cases people give up smoking only for a month or two. It is a challenge which represents a great obstacle for the young. It is possible to quit smoking at any age, but this project is focused on students and high school and primary school children. Every year, almost 3 million people die because of effects of smoking and many more are left with severe health damages. In 1990, 9579 people died in Slovenia due to the smoking. This activity will stay on our agenda after the project is finished. 1.seminar: ‘Effects of smoking’ Topics; -nicotine, carbon monoxide and cigarette tar are the most harmful ingredients of cigarette smoke (direct and indirect effects on respiratory organs, heart and arteries) -what is passive smoking and the dangers of it -the health hazards of children who are exposed to cigarette smoke -how parents’ smoking affects children’s respiratory organs (smoking through pregnancy) 2. seminar: ‘I’ve had it with smoking!’ Topics; -data presentation: the mortality rate and disease rate in developed countries -the need to smoke derives from various reasons -a few good reasons why you should quit smoking (the youth, pregnant women, parents, beginner smokers, people whose family member has cancer or heart disease) -how to stand up to the serial killer – tobacco (the importance of sport and recreation) People who wish to stop smoking must have a firm will and outside help, like the non-smokers associations. Beside all that there are also helpful medicines available. 3. seminar: topics; -most people start smoking at the age when their critical judgment skills aren’t fully developed -why the young lit their first cigarette (different reasons for boys or girls) -ways of giving up smoking among the young, finding a preventive method
